Vue Async Online Meetup
Hello web developers. I’m hosting an online “meetup” for Vue enthusiasts. I’m going for the least-flashy and most-easy interaction setup. It will be asynchronous: participate whenever you have time (within reason). I’ll announce the event dates when some people commit. Here’s some more about how it works.
First, a good day to you! Buenos días güey. Or maybe it is night where you are. Whatever the time is where you are, you are reading this in that time. Your “now you” is interacting with the “Grant from the past” through static, saved text. It’s like time-travel! Please just agree. This is the joy of asynchronous interactions within any media that can be made not-real-time: books, letters, emails, and some websites.
Do you do Vue, dude? I do. Many, many, people do. And it seems always more and more people are doing it, too. Vue.js is a very popular framework that we use to make modern static webapps easily.
Wherever you are in your Vue.js journey, I bet you want to meet other people who are at different positions on their own personal Vue.js journeys. Maybe you are wanting to get into web development and meet people who are farther along. Maybe you are a seasoned expert and just want to mingle with fellow creatives.
I think static websites provide us with an amazing medium for interacting, learning, and mingling in a convenient way. Combined with lowest-level email, it may be the economical developer’s long-distance social dream. I say, let’s use these as the mediums for our meetup about making static websites!
It can be hard to meet people or share work online. It is a bit like getting up in front of blinding lights on a stage where you can’t see the audience. How many are holding tomatoes? How many will throw roses? How many are secretly killer robots?
This meetup will be super (duper) small. But not claustrophobic. I’m capping it at 8 people. We can all vaguely know each other in the end. You will get the chance to interact more closely with a smaller group of 4 people through guided email interactions in your small group discussions. You will also get assigned a buddy for some pair interactions. At the end, everyone will have the chance to effortlessly showcase a piece of their work and leisurely browse the meetup contributions of all other participants.
The meetup will be organized into several chunks.
:: Chunk 1: 1-on-1 pair emails
:: Chunk 2: (2 parts) Main group introductions and small-group discussions
:: Chunk 3: private group hub presentations
All chunks will be very simple.
The small group email portions will involve simple templates to reduce overthought or social frictions and guide you to talk about a few choice ideas; themed topic prompts, if you will. There will be a few rounds: prompt answers, cross-talk, and final thoughts. I’ll collect messages between rounds to send back to their respective group when all are ready.
The presentation portion will involve each participant emailing me their website submissions with Vue-friend-friendly descriptions, (yes, driven by another guided discussion form) which I will review and publish for all participants to enjoy at our dedicated private “pin-protected” meetup hub website.
After we have completed our main event, you can opt-in to have your name and a decorative link published to a website that will publicly commemorate your participation in this Vue.js congregation.
Before we begin, we’ll have a brief preparation phase where I may poll several of you prospective participants for your preference on a small-group discussion topic.
Are you interested in joining? How do you sign up? How much does it cost? Lol it is free you dweeb. Just sign up by sending me an old-fashioned email declaring your intent to participate. First in, last out.
Please be:
:: Comfortable with email, and reading and writing in English.
:: Committed to communication.
:: Eager to respectfully listen and carefully share, both learn and teach, no matter what your relative experience is.
We’ll start when the 8 participants are in and our activity agenda is planned and polished. This event will all go on until we are finished.
Any Questions? Ask away. Or email me you-know-where.
